I set the last of my stands on Saturday.........

I walked the piece of property I just gained access to on Saturday, too .....being careful not to go into the really good looking places. I thought we had access to 200 acres. Turns out......it's 2 THOUSAND! Wow.A man could hunt a different place, there, every day.

Talk about a good feeling..........I've got a really good feeling about this year. Lisa and I just got back from the hardware store with my new floor freezer. That's confidence.

Talk to you guys, tomorrow.

Jeff

Rob- all kidding aside, you did a great job setting this up. I also like an adversary that's willing to put it down. Good luck to you and your team, even Mantis.

well guys...i got to shoot a good bit today. got started out my buddys shooting his 3d since i dont have one yet. just a little confidence builder. did good out to 35yds. its interesting to see him shoot. 15yds he is drilling his aluminums pretty good. but anything passed that hes not worth crap for consistancy. im trying to show him the ropes without seeming like a know it all or anything. he been at it atleast 5+yrs. i just started...so it makes it tough. but he admits he wont shoot unless hes using his 15yd pin in the woods. his bow is older but not THAT old. oh well....gives me confidence knowing he killed a couple deer with his way...i should be alright doing things the way i am.

i then came home and tried to get the BHs to hit with the fieldpoints. i know its not nessacary...but it sure makes life nice dont it?? no fussing with sites...no chewing up targets with BHs...no dulling BHs.....i was hitting low the other day with BHs..adjusted the nock. now my FPs were hitting low and it didnt fix matters..so i started back at square one. i put the nock back to having the arrow square. shot a FP..BAM 10ring. screwed in a BH..what the heck was that noise?? YES! shafts hit!! out to 35yds my 3blade 100gr muzzys hit dead on 10ring with my FPs.....cant wait guys.....little under 4wks

That's great news Mauser (broadheads/FP's). I switched to expandables this year......partly for that reason....and partly for the reason that I have TWO bows to worry about (mine and my son's). They're "as advertised". They fly JUST like the FP's.

I'm set for opening morning (Saturday). I don't plan to shoot a spike or anything.....but I honestly don't have a clue what the 2 8's or the 10 pointer I have on that tract would score. I'm guessing in the 100" range. I'm not trying to score them before I take them......but I'm just being honest with everyone. I'm going to do my best to help the team......but I may be one of the ones that just "scores". You guys in the midwest will have to make up the difference. (Now there's a little pressure, huh???)

I'll be in there @ 5:30, Saturday morning..........and in there until after lunch (unlessI connect, early!).

Jeff

Hey guys, sorry I havent been on all weekend but have been busy working on the kitchen and trying to get my shingles done.[:-]
Got a little bad news on saturday, one of the properties my buddie and I hunted last couple years,we lost.It was around 100 acres of beautiful fields and bush, great for early season bow hunting. The 2 gentlemen who own it just got their hunting licence this year and decided they wanted it all to themselvesReally cant blame them.
I still have over 1000 acres to hunt on whenever I want and a new piece I am not real familiar with yet,a little scouting will do it,and the land owner is more then happy to give us pointers on the land and where he is seeing all his sightings.
Alot of big deer running around this year, hopefully this is my year

You guys whose seasons are starting, good luck guys. Hey SBG, any buck counts my friend, it's amazing how inches can add up. It's more about a team effort, remember 10 100" deer is 1000" of antler. Last years "cough" winners, were 8 for 10 guys with over 800" inches of antler, that's impressive, a couple dandy's and a few scrubs, it's all inches of antler. Do what's right for you, it'll help.

So, who is the first of us that gets to hunt? I'm still looking toward the 30th of Sept...it's closing in.
