10- Team "10 POINT" Offical Thread

No luck filling my doe tag in IL yesterday. I found a couple of oaks dropping acorns with tracks and dropping littering the ground. Climbed a tree 25 yds away in the afternoon and a little 6 point and 3 does came in and chowed down. But they never came on my side of the tree. They were about 40 yds away thru some brush. They stayed around for 20 min. but never offered me a good shot.
Went out in MO this morning, but didn't see any deer. Will try again this afternoon.

No luck here yesterday. Saw a couple small 4 pt bucks but they're illegal in my state. Have a cold front moving in tonight and it's supposed to be cold the next couple days. Hopefully the deer will be up and moving.

I'll be back out there Saturday morning. This time of year is rediculously busy at work since everyone is trying to wrap up last minute projects before the holidays. Once Thanksgiving gets here we'll be twiddling our thumbs with nothing to do until after the new year.
On top of that my wife has 10 weeks to go before the new baby arrives. And each day she's feeling it more and more. So I've been trying to help out around the house as much as I can. But on the positive side my 2 week vacation starts a week from today and should be timed well with the rut.

Well i got out last night at was suprised to see about 8 or 9 deer laying in the sun within 60 yards of my stand. They took probably never to be seen again. I sat and had activity all night but just no real nice deer. There is a saying that you should never pass on a deer the first day that you would take the last day. I kind of did that. I had a pretty decent 9point with a double brow tine work its way past me. I think it was more that I didn't have the shot that I wanted. I was debating in the stand to take him and told myself that if he gave the perfect shot I would take it. I have made shots before the he presented to me but it just didn't feel right. This is the 3rd time I have seen this buck but only the second time he has been with in mybow range. He was standing about 40 yards the time before but 30 is all I will shot. I know there are some bigger deer in there just a matter of seeing them. I do have most of November off so I have a lot of time yet.

Thanks for the kind words Copper. She is supposed to start Chemo. today. We are to meet with the onchologist today also to find out more about her treatment plan. Eventually she will need a bone marrow transplant but other than that we don't know much except that it was caught at a very early stage. So that should help.
Looks like my hunting will be very limited the rest of the season. So it is a good thing I got a couple early. I am sure I will get to sneak out once in a while tho.

I hope all goes well for your family. Keep us posted. Hopefully it's all positive from here on out.
I was out thursday after work and it was disappointing to say the least. I hunted a stand that I have never sat in before. It is located about 40 yards of a creek. On the other side of the creek there is a sliver of land that the state leases from us. It is less the 4 acres. Anyways because it is leased by the state it is public. So I get up im my stand and it isn't 20mins later I hear a dog and two guys walking through this little piece of property. They have every right to be there but i was a little disappointed. There are no trees in there at all so I can only assume they are hunting some of the pheasants I stocked on our prop that have ventured across the creek. Any way I get down with plenty of light left and head toa differnt stand. 20 min before legal shooting is done I had a nice buck come along side the stand I was sitting in and follow a drag line I had left earlier that went to the other stand. Went in there this morning and there was a scrape with in 30 yards of the stand by the creek. Can't win for losing. The good news is I only work 4 or 5 days in the month of november because I am on deercation. thats what my wife calls it
