I haven't gone anywhere. I've been busting on a few other teams. I'm happy to be the captain. Just wanted to make sure a few more people agreed. Thanks and I'm honored.

I did re-PM Kshunter89 last night. I'll start worrying at the end of next week to think about a no show. I think there was a deadline of the 15th for that anyway.

I don't know about you all, but one of my states opens Friday.:)

Actually.."Dead balls" is an old term used by indians that means first place in the 06-07 huntingnet contest. So pretty much the other teams are S.O.L!

HAHAHA, "Yo" thats a good word.......
you and your team can go and fill your tags first, our team will hold out and come away with our prizes....You can kill your 45" deer and so can all your teammates, all we need is two 135" last week of the season deer and that will cover about 6 of your "first" deer.

I am assuming we are going with Team Dead Balls..... I made a quick banner, like 10 minutes....real simple. If you guys like it, let me know, we can use it as our banner, if NOT, im not gonna be too upset since I put zero effort into it.

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

after looking at it, I was thinking we should have the names either flashing across the bottom, or something to do with our teams usernames, but since we arent too sure about kansashunter, I am going to wait and hear some suggestions as well.

Yea .... Right ... and what tribe would that be ... The old peckers tribe.

Doesn't matter how you try to justify it ... your team will be known as NUM NUTS at the end of this contest.

It was the old peckers tribe!

As much as you know about Num Nuts...anything you wanna get off your chest? haha JK

No I don't have a problem there.

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

What are "NUM NUTS"???

Does it have to do something with numerals, or the numeric system? Or is it more of a Biblical thing, with the Book of Numbers, sometimes abbr. NUM.....I dont know. Unless maybe you are talking about numb...as in no feeling. Than yeah, I get that. Funny thing is, no one else has called us that. Num or Numb, just you and your fascination with our team just because it has the word "Balls" in it.

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

Looks like we're getting a lot of attention from the folks, as we should. I want to make sure everyone knows how we get our points!!!!!

7. You must have a pictured posted on the contest page within the Official Score Card thread to enter a deer. The bow must be in the picture and the entire deer must be in the picture, no skull pictures, no rack pictures...the buck, the bow, and yourself must be in the picture.....call me skeptical. This rule will be enforced this year, no exceptions with no apologies.

I also think we should include the family jewels in the pic just to emphasize our name.

You better talk to your team captian.

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

Your right , its all in fun no harm meant no harm done.
I told your captian that it was noble of him for his team to take second place.
Good luck to all and be safe out there.

Great banner! My poison ivy from this weekend is coming to a close after putting up the stands. I have high expectations for my placements. My brother in law will be out this friday to grab the cuddy. The camera is right by one of my stands in a wild apple orchard enclosed in a 25 acre woods. I think it will be a nice spot this fall but I have my doubts when the rut kicks in. Those apples are falling and I am unsure how long they will last. When I get pics I will post them........if something nice is in that patch!

Vogt_51 08-30-2006 05:05 PM

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

It seemed like I used to get poison Oak, I think, everytime I went to a certain stand. It was strange because I never saw any at all. As you would think I was really looking for it after the first or second time. Just never found it until my brother suggested it was the vine thing growing up the side of my tree. Might have been, I dont know.

2 days and it's opening day here in NC. I just might have to slip in the woods for a practice day.I have opening day in just over 2 weeks in Md and a hot spot picked out. I refer to this place as my petting zoo because it holds herds in excess of 60 deer.

gtx106 08-30-2006 09:44 PM

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

Well, in that case..I'll go ahead and get my plane ticket to the petting zoo! haha, lucky!

tomorrow is my once a year all day scouting day. it's the first day since march that people are allowed on the national wildlife refuge adjacent to my inlaws. i've been staring at usaphotomaps for the last 3 weeks picking out spots that look good. i have about a dozen new spots picked out and uploadedto my gps. we'll see. I love this stuff! i'm determined to find some good spots out there this year since my inlaws has turkeys, fawns and 1 doe.

Great, opening day and I have a fricking huricane showing up in the morning. I'm laughing at it. Like I said, I'm not too pumped up to go after thebucks in my yard. I'm just happy to be seeing good quality bucks around here after 8 years. I do need to shoot a few little ones to get rid of them.

mahoningbuck 09-01-2006 04:24 PM

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

Well got the cuddy back and there wasnt anything worth while! Does, fawns, and turkeys. I know there are nice bucks in the area but they havent been showing their lovely faces! Persistance is bliss.........

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

Thats the same with my Bushnell I just checked. I had almost all does and fawns....a small buck and a decent one with a huge spread. But it was a night picture and kinda hard to see, and that was the last picture before the battery died. So I was a little upset about that. Just did an external battery mod. and plan on having the camera back out this weekend, if not next. I just put out my two newly purchased Stealth Wd-1s and I am hoping those turn out.

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

Sad news. I went out to shoot from a treestand I have put up for archery practice on one of my Dad and I's leases. Its a picnic area that the landowner uses and has let me set up a stand to shoot from. He owns both sides of the highway there with this being just a small area of timber. Anyways long story short I just get there and getting my bow out and I here the squelling tires and a thump, I knew the sound was a deer getting hit on the highway a couple hundred yards away. Going to check if the driver was okay he tells me a buck ran in front of him and in the ditch is a nice ten probably mid 130s to 140, pry a 4 yr old. So there's one less in my hunting area, he wasn't one of them I was talking about in a previous post, but still a nice buck dead by car. I wouldn't have thought my shooting area was close enough to spook a deer that bad to have him run across the highway as it is used regularly by the landowner but who knows I guess just bad luck

Vogt_51 09-05-2006 11:42 PM

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

That stinks.
Im always worried about that when im driving anywhere near my hunting area at night. I would just hate to hit a deer period that could have been near my stand in a couple months, let alone a nice buck. Too bad.

Fieldmouse 09-06-2006 03:41 AM

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

Don't sweat it. There are plenty of deer out there. Heck for all you know you didn't scare him, a much bigger buck was flashing his rack telling that little buck he better find another place to get laid this year. Remember all you need to do is put up a nice buck. You've got excellent set of teammates just waiting to put numbers on the board. Together we can't loose.

Vogt_51 09-07-2006 05:04 AM

Jeez, can we possibly stay off of the second page. DANG

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

Well, it turns out opening day isn't on the 1 of Sept around here. You can tell how much I pay attention to my local area. It's Saturday and I have some free time to climb a tree. Well see what's in a new area I been allowed to hunt but never have because of time. I don't know about you all but I love hunting new areas.

WhitBri 09-07-2006 04:44 PM

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

I've got some other nice bucks spotted so I'm not too worried about finding another deer. I'm not sure if he would have even been an opening day shooter with the other bucks I've been seeing. But still a nice 4 yr old that may have been real big in a year. I'm just itching to get out in a stand. Have to wait till Oct 1 here

I been running around likea mad dog checking cams but all I getting on them is does, fawns, and small bucks. I working on scoreing a couple new places in Ohio to hunt.1 might be a really good lease next door to a good buddy of mine and he got a ton of nice bucks on cam this yr. The area I got have some very nice bucks but for some reason I can't get them on cam this yr. I been seeing them in the areas but they will not walk infront of my camera. Wensday when I went to pull my memory card I saw a nice 8 point walk right behind the camera on his way down through the apples. Important thing is I know they are there but it would be nice to get a couple shots of them.
