RE: 7- Team Official Thread
Awesome mahoningbuck and 2dog, nice bucks...
Lets get a late push guys, Im pretty sure we are in 5th currently, which is pretty dang good out of over 40 teams.. Lets go guys!! |
RE: 7- Team Official Thread
all we need is 2 deer at 100 inches each to put us close to the lead..right?? Sounds easy enough :D
I dont think we'll have any problem with that |
RE: 7- Team Official Thread
I agree we are right outside cracking the top team! Lets get two or three in the 120's if we could!
|
RE: 7- Team Official Thread
Congrat's 2dog. It keeps us in there.
Well guys, I had many 100 point bucks all week long. I can do one that size just about any day. I'm still trying to shoot a big/huge deer. Today, I finally saw my first big deer while hunting this year. He would have gone in the low 150's. Unfortunately, he never got closer the 60yrds. He was chasing a dozen does. I ended up staying all day in the tree because I was sure he would reappear. Oh well, it didn't happen. I'm not finished yet guys. I still have 2.5 months left to bag a big boy. If not, I'll shoot a smaller one if it will put us in the lead. |
RE: 7- Team Official Thread
if i total up the points on all the bucks i've seen this year it will total about 80 inches. hehe. maybe i'll have some late season luck. you guys are all doing awesome though.
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Good luck on getting that monster you little whipper snapper.
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
What members of our team have we not heard a thing from lately?
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
good point mahoningbuck. maybe our illustrious leader could pm them and see how they are doing. hint. hint.
blackpowder season starts this weekend. i'm hoping to close on my land tomorrow and then start hunting up there saturday. i'm sure i'll get some late season bow hunting in too. |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Sorry I haven't posted in awhile but I still working everyday to regain my strength and it is really starting to pay off. I can't get my full 74lbs back anymore but I dropped it down to 60lbs and got it tuned in again and I am going out to a new peice of private property this evening that I saw a couple nice 120+ bucks on while walking around scouting it last week. Gun season starts next week and as always I will stay faithfull to my bow and leave the shotgun and black powder in the gun safe. I could of been hunting the last 2 weeks with a X-bow but I passed on it. I will keep you all posted on how it goes.

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
glad to hear you're feeling better trytan. don't push it.
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Guy's I dropped one yesterday. I was going to pass but my season during the rut is coming to an end. I'm not sure how much more time I will get in the woods. I do have over two months left to hunt and will take my time to shootmy trophy. I will score him and post pics a little later. He does have a nice little rack.

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Good for you , you little whipper snapper at least you got one.
Hope you were able to drag him by your self , can't wait to see the pictures. Congrats from your old buddy. Grandpa |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Fieldmouse, congratulations on the buck. I can't wait to see the pictures and the story to go along with it.
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Roger that 2dog.........fieldmouse cant wait to see it!
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Here you go guys. I still haven't measured him yet but he's in the 110 range give or take. The front came in and disappointed me because the temps dropped. I must be getting old or enjoyed way too many perfect hunting days this year. I went in at 6 am just as it was beginin to get light out. I set up in the area I saw the big buck the other day. It was on the edge of thicket of sapplings. I tucked up in there at day 7 am a 4 and another 6 cameright in on me. They walked around under me and left. 10 mins later this one and another one a little smaller came right in under me. There was a slow breeze and because all I had was my ball cap for my head, I was cold. I decided since it was my last morning hunt for awhile, I might as well drop something now. He walked out 10 - 15 yrds away from me and I dropped the thunder on him. He made it about 40 yrds and things went black.

RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
congrats fieldmouse. that's a nice looking buck. goofy looking bow though .
I hunted my own land today for the first time in my life!!!! I closed on my 40 acres this morning. The seller gave me pics from this year of 4 different bucks an 8, 9, 10, and 11. The 10 and 11 are squaring off to brawl. One of the coolest trail cam pics i've seen. I guess the next property over got an 8 and a 10. Hopefully there's a couple nice ones left. |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Way to go fieldmouse , nice looking buck hope he scores well for ya.
Who's the old guy with the gray in his beard , is it your dad ? Thought you were a young whipper snapper. Congrats on the buck. |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Congrats fieldmouse! Nice Buck!
That should help out our score a bunch, lets keep putting them down guys! |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Fieldmouse, congrats and nice hat..lol
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Yes feildmouse nice buck....as for the hat.......where can I get one of those? I think we are in the thick of things! I hope we can get a couple more nice ones. Keep it up guys.
ORIGINAL: Rob/PA Bowyer Fieldmouse, congrats and nice hat..lol |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
well guys, I think my odds of getting a bow buck this year are slim to none. muzzleloader goes until 12/10 after that i'll have 3 more weeks of bowhunting. But, that is my non hunting/fishing time of the year (3 whole weeks) so I won't be able to hunt much. Ice fishing will just be getting ramped up and I'm prettyexcited for it this year. The only angle I have is that I just bought 40 acres last week and the wife might understand that I'm dying to get a buck off my own property. I saw one deer on friday, i wasn't really paying attention and spooked it. it was walking right towards me too. dangit!
anyway, I think the top scores are pretty incredible. 8/10 getting bucks with several nice ones. that is going to be tough for anyone to beat, even us at this point. fieldmouse, we were counting on you for 180+ inches. what happened? |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
I still have 2 months left. I just don't know if I can get out of work as much as I did this month. I can say I've been in the woods a lot more this year then years past. I think I hunted 3-4 days every week this month. Now I have to get cracking again.
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Where is my team. Come on guys lets bring home the bacon. If you think your season's over fly east and I will put you on a decent buck. Heck, the way my luck goes I'll put you on a monster I want to shoot and I say shoot away.
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
I'm still here. I'm taking Friday off to hunt my newly purchased 40 acres. I have some nice trail cam pics but this time of year is next to impossible. I don't think I've even ever seen a shooter buck after the Minnesota gun season has ended.
So, I'm just hoping for a doe. Especially now that the butcher lost my deer from October 29th!!! Dang butcher, I could have screamed at him. oh wait, i did! |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
I am still here and hunting hard every day or so when I can keep my eyes open. Seen a few smaller bucks and a monster half rack but nothing I will put on my wall but the season is still young...lol I have shot 3 nice bucks in Jan. and I hope to make it a 4th this yr if not before. Me and my buddies main property they finally finished logging it and we put out 2 corn spreaders so I figure in next couple of weeks the deer will be hitting them hard. Alos set up our groundblinds 30 yrds from the spreaders and well camoed in all the treetops so hopefully a nice buck will drop in and get dropped.
Good luck to all Trytan |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Have we been able to get ahold of the other team mates who we havent heard anything from? I hope you are all enjoying the remainder of the season. I will be going out for the extra weekend of gun this up coming week.
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
I went out w/ my muzzleloader this weekend and saw 6 does. i almost dropped the hammer on one when another doe that i didn't even see winded me. my only option is bow now. I'll be out again next weekend, probably hunt only once a weekend until the end of the year (also the end of my season). I have only seen two bucks this year, both too small to shoot, ugh! I do kind of regret not shooting a five point that I saw earlier this year. It got shot by some goof balls during the slug season. hind sight is 20/20 i guess.
anyway, good luck all! |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Sorry I haven't been back guys. I was kinda upset over the totally terrible(deer wise) season second season I had. I will not be getting a gun deer this year as my season is over. I am still going out with a bow, but its been pretty bad. Good luck to the rest of you though.
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Keep it up guys. Let's see another buck get posted for the team score.
Last night I had my wall hanger with in 70 yrds. He was a huge 10 point. solid 24 inch spread, in the 160 range. I had just got up my tree. Trimmed back the branchs around me and got my bow in my hand. I caught some movement down the hill towards the house in the blow downs. I saw it was a nice buck but I figured a nice 8 point. I continued to watch him work his way through the blow downs when he stopped and lifted his head. I about died. He took about 30 mins to mosey his way right on by. I tried grunting him but he was just to far and too much wind and car traffic noise. To make matters worst, I changed areas by about 120yrds when I got up the hill. I might have gotten a shot or been in a better position to grunt had I not deviated. |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
i'm going out in the am. we'll see if my luck can turn around. i've seen 45 deer this year but only 2 bucks.
|
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
well guys, i'm officialy done. the ice is thick enough to fish on lake mille lacs, i'm switching gears.
i went out this morning and didn't see anything. the deer are way too nocturnal for my liking. the walley and perch are calling me. i'm switching to the fishing message boards right about............now! (later all!) |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Sorry I havnt been on in a while guys. I just bought a house and got my dsl hooked up today. I havnt had ANY luck hardly this year. Its reallly dissapointing. But, The house I have just purchased sets on 3 acres and has deer on the backside of the place down in a bottom.
Ill still be trying to bag a nice buck come the first of january! |
RE: 7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread
Let's get this thread back to the top. I've been real busy running around teaching tech's how to install and test dsl. I want to get out one more time this year but I've been swamped. I am getting out and going duck hunting this weekend atleast. Been driving around the mid-west all week and just can't keep my eyes out of the woods.
