Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving everyone! -
Best of luck to all out hunting... and my deepest condolences for any forced to do shopping (I had to do that on one Friday after T-Day - vowed never again - took almost two days in the stand to bring back a shred of sanity)... then again some will argue there is no shred of sanity - nor had there ever been!!
Be Happy & Safe, hug the families & shoot some bucks!!

Hey guys, I'm still around. Been working alot, so just not much time to be on the net. Got an e-mail from my 14 year old son today, (he lives in North Dakota with his mom and step dad) anyways, this is his first year deer hunting, and today at about 8:00 this morning, he shot a real nice 10 point. He was pretty amped. It really sucks that I dont get to be there for all of his firsts.
He started duck hunting last year, and has shot a few of them too. I am glad that he has a step dad that will take him hunting and all that stuff, but it makes me sad to know that soomeone else is teaching him how to hunt, and getting to experience all of that with him. Well hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! I will be hunting Friday afternoon, I have to work until noon. And then hopefully I wil get to get some treestand time in this weekend. Muzzleloader starts this weekend.
I have to figure out how to post the pictures since its from an email, and something is messed up.....will post as soon as I can.

Can you believe that they didnt even cape it out so he could get it mounted???? That kind of ticked me off. I said that they cut it up today, and cut the rack off so they could mount the rack, but I would think that they could have had a shoulder mount done for him, since it was his firs. He got it with an old 30-30 that he got from his Grandpa. I think its time to see if he is interested in trying a bow.

Happy thanksgiving fellas. Just getting ready to head out the door to fatten up at the in-laws' place.
Darren, that's an awesome buck! Be proud of him, looks like he's a chip off the old block. Don't sweat the things that are outside your own control, just do what you can to be a good dad, and everything else will work itself out.
Ryan - I'm burning my free time tomorrow morning small game hunting and looking for Mr. O. Saturday, the wifie made arrangements for us to hang out with her friends all afternoon, so I won't be able to tag along - thanks for the offer though. I figured since she was cutting me loose all morning tomorrow, I'd just take that time to close the case on my 06 archery season, then I'd be decent and give her all day Saturday to do whatever she wanted. Married life... give and take... still adjusting.Hmmph.
You guys who are still hunting - good luck. In my opinion, it's only a matter of time before we do some major leap-frogging and reclaim the throne.

Darren, tell the boy congrats, thats a great deer!!
I went this morning behind my house where I killed the oddball 5pt and a doe....had a 10pt ( I think) come by in the bottom below me. He was nice, 140-150....bladed points....really nice buck. He wouldn't come any closer than about 60 yards. I grunted, rattled, I think I even clapped my hands and whistled like a dog call......nothing. I saw him head into his bedroom, but I am working now so I will try again in the morning.
Good luck to all still chasing the bucks.
