Hi Guys, hope everyone had a great weekend!

This year has been the best! I thought last year would be “Thee Season”, had a tombstone – sorry milestone birthday, got into the contest and was set for great things! After three days of early season hunting in the heat, a ton of stuff came up and I only hunted a few times after that. We had a good bunch of guys on the team, but I can only remember a couple of them.

I think we have a great team and do feel fortunate to be on it. It may have something to do with the number of posts that have been accumulated, but I feel that all of you are my buds! I used to leave the sight up on my ‘puter all day and check in several times throughout the day, but after grumblings of # of hits on certain sites etc. etc. I try to limit to opening and reading a couple times a day – and will often type up longer responses offline and do the old cut and paste. I have also been experiencing lots of problems with my internet service at home.

It really hit me after that big boy went by at 10 feet and I could not get a shot, my first thought was about the team. I think for 10 strangers all across the country we have gotten pretty close.

Question – do you guys keep an observation journal? J received one a few years ago from the DNR (and one each year since then). I thought it was a neat idea keeping track of dates, sightings etc. and have been keeping one on Excel. If anyone is interested or would like a copy of what I use PM or e-mail me and I will shoot a copy to you.

Best of Luck to Anthony and Sum, I feel we still have some bone out there to collect!! Have a great Thanksgiving!

Mike

I wouldn't expect for any of you that this will be surprising.Troy is one super decent guy and is absolutely passionate about big whitetail bucks!!
I have been communicating with Troy over the last eight or nine months I believe and it was clear to me from the start that Troy was a very nice person and someone who knew a lot about big whitetail bucks.
I have been hunting in Idaho for the last nine seasons, the last seven of which have been unguided.I love that country and have hungered for information as to how to hunt that area more effectively. There are some beautiful bucks in Northern Idaho but they don't come easy.Troy and I have been emailing on average two or three times a week.Every piece of information that he offerred led to more questions on my part,he was always gracious and my additional questions were always answered. It was obvious to me that if we lived in close proximity to one another this would be a person that I would enjoy spending a lot of time with.A great thing about the internet is our ability to communicate with people and form relationships even though we are located all over the place.
I could go on and on about Troy and I probably will a little bit.He is a special guy,you have seen it with your team and the camraderie that has developed among you.I have read every post from each one of you from the very beginning, because of my relationship with Troy.I feel like I know most of you fairly well.It is pretty clear to me that there are some very nice people among you and some very good hunters!
Troy suggested that he and I get together while I was out there this fall (I just got home to New York State last night). It was a little delicate with the fellows I hunt with out there,I didn't want to alienate any of these friends, one of which I am very close with, but I had really developed a bond with Troy and wanted to at least meet him personally and yes it would be great to hunt with him if that were possible.ALthough we didn't have much time together (a day and a half) I thoroughly enjoyed it!! There are players and pretenders and without a doubt Troy is the real deal! When I saw his whitetail room I almost needed Troy to get me a glass of water,I couldn't take it all in,it was to much at once. The beautiful bucks this man has harvested with a bow,the countless sheds (big sheds) that he has hanging from his beams.I was and am very thankful to have spent time with Troy and his family. He has two beautiful boys Jess and Tyson and a lovely wife Dee.They couldn't have been more gracious!
I know Troy is intending to write about our time together so I don't want to take any of his intended writings. You would again probably know and expect this of Troy, that man can hunt!!As a result ofour friendship and our time spent together I am certain that I will be able to transfer that knowledge and experience into consistently killing bigger deer.
Congratulations to you all on the success of your team and more importantly on the relationships you have established!I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!!

Howdy folks... Haven't been out to much since last posting, almost got out on Monday but I had to run calves down to an auction all afternoon and unfortunately if I cdidn't do that, I don't pay the bills, and if I don't pay the bills, I have got no place to hunt. Did talk to my folks about hunting around their place and I might just do that in Early December for a couple days if I can get away... We shall see...

Yesterday my day was spent, that's right, hauling more cattle and than going to the doc to get the ultrasound done on my wife to make sure the next little Rancher was AOK... Haven't heard anything to the contrary and it appears that the next little Rancher will be a boy... So, I think I will take that was probably more important than hunting.. Oh well, I am hoping to get out Friday - Sunday for some nice hunting.. Weather is going to be miserable so I might as well hunt, lol.

Well congrats on the good news. That's a little extra reason to be thankful for this year.

I've been around long enough to know that Troy is definitely the real deal and IMO the most "best" hunter on this site....... He's consistently killed BIG mature bucks and has done it on public ground in a tough environment...

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

Anthony - that is great news, glad to hear that all is well!! Did you say earlier that you made brats with some of your venison - if so would you shoot that receipe to me? Best of luck when you get out hunting.

The wife took the cameras to get developed, so I will get the pics soon. hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, we are finally "done" with the house......for the time being. We had the new carpet laid Saturday, finished up the bathroom remodel over the weekend, had the new septic tank installed, hooked the the satellite, so its ready to be lived in LOL. I will post before and after pics of the house too. Thursday is shotgun season again, so I will be out looking for a buck this weekend.
