Dang... One heck of a Buck Hoosier... Wow...Congrats and it is Terriffic to see such a big smile, bet your face hurt after that day
. Congrats...
My NExst 4 days are SWAMPED with hauling cattle, preg checking cows and company from Montana stopping by. Friday is probably the next day I will get out.. Talked to a bunch of people and they have all said the same thing I have seen.. the deer just aren't moving like they usually do... Who the heck knows what is going on.... All the corn is gone now in the area so at least that has something going for it.. Scent control might be a thing of the past too right now as they are spearding liquid pig manure on some of the fields nearby... For at least a day or two I don't think it matters what you smell like, the smell of pig will overwhelm anything.. Makes for a not so great day in the woods, that much I will tell you...
Oh well, Congrats too the 5 who have gotten a buck and good luck to everyone still out hunting, whether for tree rats, a doe or still goning for antlers...

Hi Guys - am sitting in my tahoe with the laptop and found a wireless access point to use - looked somewhat strange driving through town with the computer trying to find one!
Ryan - that is a sweet deer I love it! congrats again bud!!
William - I love your buck also - I am right there with you on the prior bucks also! Great job!
I am still hunting tomorrow - and don't want to jinx the past two days so hopefully tomorrow I will fill everyone in!

Way to go Hoosier! Awesome buck, good shootin' and great story, and score another one for Team XX.
It looks like we're the team to beat right now, so a couple more bucks could ice it for us!!
I hunted WVthis morning, saw a spike, a small 6-8? and 5 does. Good action all morning, would have been better if I didn't bump out a nice herd on my way in. Got in to work a shade late, but I made it. Still trying to get a look at an older buck, but no dice today.
The way things are sounding, the rest of you guys are on deer, and it's just a matter of time before arrows are flung.
Rybo, I can't get over the coat on that buck. He's gota really pretty hide.
Hoosier - that deer has awesome mass - all theway out to the tips. He'd be top dog around my parts.

Hi Guys – here is a quick update – did not get to read all the posts after last weekend, got quite a few read, but not all of them. Last weekend saw several 1.5 year old bucks and several does. The afternoons were unbelievably hot and windy.
This Sunday morning had a small buck and a doe come through. I did a series of doe grunts and had a nice buck come right in. I debated whether or not to shoot him. He was a dark racked 10 point 8 inch G-2’s, 13 or so wide and fairly heavy. I decided to let him go put my bow on the hook and worked the camcorder out of my inside pockets. I got some video of him, but he was standing in some fairly thick brush so did not get a good view of his rack. He stuck around for half an hour just dinking around where I could not get any better video. I put the cam back in my pocket and watched him. He started moving off to the north and I got the cam back out and was getting some good video of him (three spots were in shooting lanes and had some good close up’s of his rack and I kept thinking maybe you should have shot him. He was quite a way off and I noticed that the video was bouncing quite a bit as I was zoomed – better quit taping – WAIT – it says pause, oh crap I forgot to push the record button (long series of expletives not included at this point).
I put the cam back in my pocket thinking to myself – OK IDIOT lets quit screwing around with the cam – If you saw a big buck while doing so you would probably drop the thing and get beaten severely by the wife and besides, today you appear to be too stupid to use the thing! OK lets check out the buck with the binocs…WOW… You are stupid – you pass on a buck that many people would absolutely love to shoot (he was a beautiful deer and would have made an incredible mount) I did not realize he was quite that heavy – man that is a nice deer, what a bone-head! Hey what is he looking at there to the east? Lower the binocs and look to the east OH MY the extra super muae grande after the first two tenths of a second in determining he was indeed a shooter I tried not to look at the rack (was tough since it was huge) bow in hand now where is he going and where can I shoot him. He was across the ditch and no real shooting lanes over there. He moved through one hole I had that was an open 30 yard shot and I did not get drawn on him crap – where else? – unfortunately there were no other places – will have to see if he will come across on his own, he then moves up the hill towards the other buck who promply exits. He is heading west and now about 75 yards away – do a couple of breading bleats…nothing at all – OK throw a buck grunt at him… it slowed one stride and he almost turned his head as if to say – you do not deserve that much of my attention and continued on. This is one of the biggest deer I have seen G-2’s over 14 and HEAVY. I have only replayed that scene a few thousand times already and I am sure will do so a couple of more over the next few days.
Fast forward to Monday evening – not much at all going on except for the turkeys. I get that feeling that there is something behind me – but in this stand they virtually never come from the east (different stand that Sunday morning) at this stand – but sure enough he did – did not get to see the head as it was already into the heavy brushed fence row but a big blocky body. Evidently he was moving along the main trail on the ridge and veered off 50 yards to the south, crossed the fence and made a big semi circle up the hill about 60 yards from the stand. I could see legs on the other side of a stand of small trees. Light is getting scarce so I have the binocs up watching trying to get a good look at some antlers. Yep another shooter – what is he going to do now – walks in the middle of a small protected hayfield with a big bale right in the middle. I hit a few doe grunts followed by a couple of buck grunts but it was as if he did not hear them, not a change in gait at all – he walked to the north side of the field jumped the fence and sounded like he tore up some timber.
OK that is the noteworthy items I have had so far – mornings have been beautiful – evenings hot. Hopefully tomorrow I will have something better to report!

You are heavy into some shooter bucks, should just be a matter of time before an arrow flies. Keep up what you are doing, it must be right. And kudos for having the patience and not forcing anything on these nice deer, you'll get a good shot soon.

Mike,
Awesome update, as Ryan said, sounds like its just a matter of time now! Good luck!
A couple weeks ago my wife got her firstbuck. A little 4x3, I am so proud of her, she was pumped! here is a pic ...the little buggar rolled down a very steep mountain side and brokeof two of his right side tines.. but I told my wife Dee I would fix those up for her. We really had a great time hunting. She shot her buck with one shot with a 270 after I had grunted at him to stop him..
