Awesome Darren - congrats on the buck. Even though you're a Michigan fan, I'm still happy for ya! Mario Manningham.... cough... gag... choke...
Looking forward to hearing the story and seeing the pictures.
I think I'll wear my HNI victory hat to my Glamour Shots this Christmas. I'll start growing a little mullet tail in the back, justto give it some flare.

Quick, If I grew a mullet it would be the ugglest one ever.. We are talking FRO in back and bald in front.. It would be a lot different than party in back and business up front.. I think I will stick with the shaved head.

Darren congrats on the buck. That just moved us into the lead. You did your part.
I have had the worst luck as far as hunting this year. I have not been seeing anything and am starting to get agrivated. I will just keep putting the time in on stand and things will hopefully start to change with the rut coming soon. The wind has not been out of the right direction and things just are not happing. I talked to the farmer and they are running behind on getting the corn down and that is hurting me alot. The leaves are hanging on alot longer this year than last year as well. But despite all of this I am still haveing fun and enjoying the time in the woods. Good luck to the rest of the team.

Hey guys, how is everyone doing? I thought I would come on and give somewhat of a short version of my hunt. I have been crazy busy the last couple of days. I got in my stand at 3:50 yesterday afternoon. I had made a mock scrape about 30yards in front of my stand, and hung a scent dripper with some active scrape in it. At 3:55, I got out the rattle bag and grunt tube, and rattled and grunted for just a couple of minutes. I saw some movement RIGHT away off to my left about 60 yards. It turned out to be this 8 point chasing 3 does BIG TIME. He didnt even care that I ws there, he was not going to leave those does. Long story short, he chased them forth for about 10 minutes. Finally the does crossed the river behind me, ( my stand is about 15 yards away from the river ) I thought the buck would go with them, but he got in the water right behind my tree, and just milled around for a couple of seconds. Then he came back up on the bank right behind me. I was facing the tree, and he came from my left to my right. When he cleared the tree, I let one fly. He bolted about 10 yards, stopped15 yards right in front of my tree, and turned back to where he was standing when I shot. He stood there with that look on his face like what the hell was that. I was trying to get another arrow out of my quiver, but after about 10 seconds of him standing there, his back legs started to buckle, and he flipped right over backwards. I couldnt believe it, he layed dead not 20 yards in front of my stand. I looked at my watch, it was 4:15. From the time that I got in my stand, until the time that he died, was 25 minutes. I had to sit there for a while, and let it all soak in. I should mention that all 3 does, and the buck checked out my mock scrape at one time or another.
He is not huge, but I am very proud of him anyways, he was my first buck with my bow, and I only have 1 other one that is bigger than him.

Darren,
Great buck, and great story. Extra congrats on it being your first, that one is always special. You got to love it when you don't need a track job.
As for an update on the rest of my hunting, it has been raining a ton lately, I've hardly been out, and when I do get a chance it is heavy rain. But the good news is that in 3 days I am off for 2 weeks. So from Oct 29th to nov 12 I am able to hunt all but the 2 sundays. I'm pretty excited, especially since I have logged half the amount of hours that I normally have at this point in the season. I'm extra pumped for this saturday and monday. I've historically had very good luck on halloween and the saturday closest to it.
