RE: Official Team 19 "Team Buckstoppers!" Thread
I'm back from my hunting trip chasing mule deer, made it back safe and sound. It sure is some beautiful country in the badlands. The only problem was it was just to hot, in the 90's the whole time. It did cool off in the evenings so that made it a lot more bearable. We seen quite a few deer, seen a half dozen or so real nice bucks and another 6 or so smaller ones. I just didn't have anything close enough. A spike and a forkhorn were the closest at about 40 yards. We plan on going back towards the end of October. I'm going out tomorrow to set up some stands. I just hope the mosquitos don't carry me away.

All that really matters is that you had a good time. Maybe one day I will be able to go on a hunt for some Mule Deer or Elk. Every time I see that big open country on TV I just want to go.

Hey guys just checking back in. I have been really busy lately as we just moved into a new house and have been getting everything set up. Bad news is I can't get DSL anymore out here and I am on a really slow dialup. We are hoping that some DSL will move out this way really soon. The good news is I got me a new Hoyt Vipertech a couple weeks ago and it is shooting GOOD!! :D I'm ready for season to start right now!!

RE: Official Team 19 "Team Buckstoppers!" Thread
Well, it didn't rain today like the weather channel predicted which was nice. I saw 2 skinny doe, a button buck, a fork horn and a really nice, wide 6 pointer still in velvet. I let them all pass. I was really tempted by the 6 pointer cuz I never shot a buck in velvet but he only would have scored between 80-90. My friend, 100 yards away, had 4 fork horns and a tall spike all under his stand at the same time! He also saw 3 doe. I know there are a couple of 8's and maybe a 10 out there. I'm going to try my spot on public land tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will hold hold again. I will update then.
Good luck to anyone that is hunting this weekend. |

Oh well, got skunked on Friday. I had two doe walk behind the tree I was in. Didn't get a shot at either one. Didn't see any bucks at all. It is still hot here, around 87 degrees on Friday. I don't know how those guys do it in Texas! I think the spot I have on public land will be better once the farmer cuts the corn. The stream I setup on is between the corn and the old bedding area. There are about 7 crossings in 50 yards and I'm right in the middle of them. I have a couple of other spots I'm looking at also.
Do any of you have that M.A.D. video camera thingy? My friend is going to buy one. |

RE: Official Team 19 "Team Buckstoppers!" Thread
Hi guys.......back from the woods. Saturday morning on the way to the woods, had an 8 point run across the road in front of me. About 2 1/2 year old.....should be pretty good in 3 or 4 years, if the neighbors don't get him. They don't seem to be real big on QDM. Got to the woods about 5:45. It doesn't get light enough to see much of anything until about 6:30 - quarter till 7. About 7:30a had a doe come by - about 60yds- with 2 little ones. Still had spots on their butts. That was pretty much it for Sat. am. Came in...road 4 wheelers to check out food plots.....most of them are pretty sad. We need rain something bad. Went back out around 4p....dropped my stuff off at stand.....went and parked 4 whlr and walked back. I went to this stand because the wind was out of the SW. so it would be in my face. Well, the first deer to come in was a skinny doe.....beautiful gray color. 13 yards under my stand....BEHIND ME!!!!! go figure. the wind must have been swirling because I had 2 more does and a fawn come in out in front of me. No shot there. They acted like they winded me as soon as they got in the field. Didn't shoot at the doe behind me because the ground was covered in poison ivy. I figured with my luck she would go down in the ivy. Not good for me! I end up in the ER just about every time I get it. Well, so much for last weekend.....I have next to look forward to. It's still pretty warm and movement seems pretty slow. I love it though.....I will be back out there at 5:45a next Saturday. Hope you all are doing well. I know it's hard for some of you that have not had your season open yet. Good Luck with your season when it finally gets here. Diann:D

I went out Friday and sat in one of my stands and didn't see a deer. I did see a mink and one squirrel. I went out last night and sat in a different stand and seen 6 bucks. I had a forkhorn and a small 4x4 within 15 yards of my stand. The other 4 bucks ran by me at about 75 yards. Something must of spooked them up and got them up and running. Three of the bucks had small racks but the other one was pretty nice. Looked like a 16 to 18 inch spread and has some mass to it. Hopefully next time he comes a little closer so I can look him over a bit and see how nice he really is. I'm going to my sisters this weekend and do some hunting there. She lives about 180 miles southwest of me. The area I will be hunting is where I got my deer last year.
