RE: Official Team Elite (8) Thread
I re-did the math with Tribals buck and team 20's additions. They are sitting at 850 you subtract our 368 and were down 482. Divide that by our 6 team members left to kill at were looking at around 81" per buck. Its definitly possible but will be tough this late in the season. I'm putting the guns away for the year, skipping the rest of shotgun and late ML, and I'm gonna focus 100% on hunting with the bow and see what I can make happen. I have never killed a buck with the bow after rifle season but there is a first time for everything!!!!

Wow, not the reaction I was expecting. I appreciate it everyone, I was really looking for a old narly buck I had been spotting now and then. But you all know how to make a guy feel a bit better about themself. As a bowhunter who has had decent success, I always expect the most out of myself when it comes to hunting.
I am sad to say that from day one ofevery season I put entirely too much pressure on myself to connect with a Pope and Young buck. I know it's not suppose to be about that and it's not to me entirely. I can't explain it, but I guess I just expect it out of myself. And when you look at the low percentage of success a bowhunter has, There is no reason to feel that much pressure. What a wonderful sportand now next year is already on my mind. It's a no win situation and a revoution that just keeps going, going and going. Thanks again for all the kind words guys, I really appreciate it. The photos are all self taken with my digital, I want to remember every one so I do take the time to try and take good photos. I feel I owe it to the animal, if it's a deer, fox, turkey, bear whatever. Besides I am getting a nice scrapbook thats almost full from all my hunts. Makes a great brag book.;) The buck was good size, I did not weigh him but I know he was right around 180 pounds. I was surprised with his neck size as I know he was a young deer. And fromthe bucks I have been seeing as of late on stand, I am excited for next year. Should be something to look forward to. Good luck to the guys who are still at it. This was the latest I ever took a buck, it can be done! |

Nice buck Tribal..congratulations!!
I have not hunted for two weeks but 3"-5" of snow is expected tomorrow and we are supposed to start warming up into the 40's starting Saturday. Muzzleloader is this weekend but I will be out with my bow. IMO, the next 2-3 weeks is a great time to connect on a nice buck. A friend of mine across the river in Indiana shot a very nice 10 pt. buck yesterday with his muzzleloader. Its time to get with it. |

ORIGINAL: Cougar Mag IMO, the next 2-3 weeks is a great time to connect on a nice buck. Its time to get with it. Sure, late season is tough with the temps, deer all freaked out, limited rut activity, etc.. BUT, think about this: Are the deer going to be in your living room?;) |
RE: Official Team Elite (8) Thread
You the man Tribal. I know the work and preperation it took to endure those conditions to hunt in.Congradulations, on a job well done. ;)
