i highly doubt that... i haven't even begun to lose my temper... you have no idea how we live, what we've been though and you pass judgement based on your american conservative standings... confederates lost the war boys, survival of the fittest take your flags down and start kissing us yanks' because we beat you.. pull your heads outta the back woods and start looking at the world and real life because you are definetly not the most important things in it

Flying off the handle, calling people names and otherwise putting everyone down that doesn't agree with you is just making you look immature, insecure and unprepared to argue in a civil manner. Besides you said you weren't going to post anymore so.....see you in Canada I guess.

You know...if I had known it would turn out this way I would have never posted this topic... I didn't realize the feelings ran that deep....
I do not feel like I am a child...I haven't been allowed to be a child for years...I lost my grandfather at 13, finished highschool at 14, started college at 15, took care of our farm at 16 and started riding bulls at 17....it makes you grow up fast...... I'm old enough to hold an opinion an an issue.
As far as I can tell...everyone agrees that you can't hold onto the past forever...nobody expects the Vikings to repay the loot they stole...but the issue is how far back to we go? Huntingirl and others think we are not doing enough and that the indian situation is receint enough to warrent reparations (sp??). Others claimed that the time has long since come for the past to be forgotten. I think we should be able to hold our opinions with respect and agree to disagree.

I dont feel that they should get any thing that we dont. and i have seen how it is on the res where they sell the piping on the houses that they get gave to them.but i am not sayin that they are all like that but i dont agree with them gettin free anything but i really dont want to get started

I think you brought up a great question. We shouldn't feel awkward about asking an honest question - asking the question is the first step to addressing an issue or solving a problem. If we don't address the issue then we can't begin to solve a problem.

I enjoyed reading everyone's spirited answers to your question. You also did an exceptional job of summarizing everyone's responses and catagorizing their viewpoints. Thanks for letting this old man (50 years) put in his opinion too. I don't want to appear as a "teacher" or a "parent" with my next comment because it's not where I'm coming from. My following comment is being asked by a person who wants to see a solution to what apears to be a problem.

I agree with you that "we should be able to hold our opinions with respect and agree to disagree." I just want to point out that your sentiment, although admirable, stops short of addresing the issues brought up here. I don't expect any of us to come up with an answer to all the sides presented in "Moral Question", but if someone does I'd enjoy reading it. There are times in life when we have to come up with an answer and actually change the way things are - even if those changes make some people angry and frustrated. Around the world there are many problems that exist because people shy away from tackling them.

So, if any one is interested I'd be happy to hear an answer(s) to the question about what we should do regarding "Moral Question." Do we keep things the same or change them? (This is not a homework assignment just an honest thought will do).

Bub, if you're as mature as you claim, you'd know there are certain times you should just keep your mouth shut; this is one of those times.

apmaurosr...that made a lot of sense....unfortunitly I have no good ideas of how to handle the issue. The problem I see is that the extra benefits given to teh Native Americans are doing very little good. I think the government is just giving them enough to "get by" miserably. I think the situation needs reform to either elevate the situation of the indians or cease aid altogether.
