1) We never ran in spiked shoes. Ever.
2) No rules? WTF kinda race are you running in?
3) Running through creeks? Again, WTF kinda races are you running in?
4) 16:20? That's a Division I college time.
If we want to debate which sports take the most endurance, then it is more than likely soccer.
I played organized basketball from when I was 8 till I graduated HS. I still played basketball for intramurals during college.
Trust me, soccer take the most endurance out of any sport I have ever played.
Finding your pace in CC is not that hard. Starting, stopping, starting, excelarating is what kills you in soccer.

2) In Ohio XC is huge and we do run through creeks all the time.
3) When running an XC race the only part there are people at are the start 1 mile 2 mile 3 mile and finish. Other than those times you can pretty much do what you want.
4) In XC you have to accelerate and decelerate a ton.
5) 16:20 is not a D1 college time. Two seniors this year both got 15:45. They are going to D1 schools. IUPUI to be exact. 16:20 in high school is pretty good. But in college 16:20 wont cut it.
6) My PR as a freshman was a 17:09 on varsity
