1) We always run in spikes. Always. We adjust length for different terrain and weather. I exaggerated about 2 inch spike thing. They are usually 1 inch in rain.
2) In Ohio XC is huge and we do run through creeks all the time.
3) When running an XC race the only part there are people at are the start 1 mile 2 mile 3 mile and finish. Other than those times you can pretty much do what you want.
4) In XC you have to accelerate and decelerate a ton.
5) 16:20 is not a D1 college time. Two seniors this year both got 15:45. They are going to D1 schools. IUPUI to be exact. 16:20 in high school is pretty good. But in college 16:20 wont cut it.
6) My PR as a freshman was a 17:09 on varsity

2) We ran through a few wood courses that had creeks in them, but we never ran through any creeks.
3) Yes, I know where people are located during the race. I know you can do what you want, but I never seen anybody pushing another runner down or anything like that.
4) Accelerate and declerate a ton? When? You find your pace and stay at it. If you are constantly slowing down, then accelerating again, you will never improve your time.
5) Running 16:20 consistly in HS will probably earn you a scholarship at the college level. I promise you that.
5) My personal best back in HS was in the low 17s also. Now, my 5k time as of last weekend was 20:13.

dude you use spikes to get traction when you go up hills and in differnt terrain
accelerating in race is called surges to pass people then you find your pace agian
im not going to try and argue with you about this because our courses must have been differnt and our coackes tell us diff things you went all the way through hs with it and im only a freshman
i meant that if you run a 16:20 all the time at a D1 college i dont think they would keep ya but thats my opinion
we dont do road races they all in grass and woods
im not gonna lie track is boring as shi* and i thought XC would be stupid and dumb until i ran it but once i ran it it was awesome
