We plant them the day we finish planting corn, change the plates and plant the sunflowers before we wash the corn planter and put it away......we dont like to wash it then get it out again if you know what I mean it's no easy task pressure washing a 16 row planter.

Why won't they allow hunting Ron? Maybe a bow hunt would help if they allowed it for a few years.

Till our trails cross,

WW

PS I can't understand why NJ won't allow dove hunting. My 10 year old loves it and to me it's warm and reminds me of teal hunting. Great for the young hunters.

We plant several sunflower plots for dove hunting for different land owners, we have one farm in particular that the deer eat them before they get knee high, then we replant and the same thing happens, and there are so many deer on that farm and the landowner doesnt allow any hunting. I have counted several herds of 20-40 deer, I mean different herds.

Sun Flowers are a part of my food plots every year. Deer seem to like young sunflowers plants. Many other animals and birds including turkeys enjoy sunflowers. The way I do it is cheep and easy. Black Oil Sunflower seeds ( Bird Seed) 50 # around $10.00. I carry a bag in my truck all spring. A Small 2 gal. plastic pail. Every time I go to my hunting area I fill the pail with seeds and just toss them around as I walk. No tilling just toss and walk. Ever notice sun flowers growing around those bird feeders every spring. There you go.

you can buy "clearfield" sunflowers from mycogen. you have to use their herbicide called "beyond". it's several hundred dollars a gallon.

i'm using treflan and prowl for my flowers this year,
