i planted 18,000 seeds/acre. you could double or triple that if broadcasting.

RE: Sunflowers
Pounds of seed per acre? More like ounces. I hand turned my planter and captured the seed to determine my drop rate aiming for 20,000 plants per acre. When I finished, I counted the seeds I had captured. It amounted to about the amount of seed you could scoop with one hand. There were 500+ seeds in a handful! I'd guess your looking at around a "gallon" of seed per acre for row planting, twice that for broadcast. I'd guess a gallon of sunflower seed at about 2 1/2 or 3 lbs. Not much.

Sunflowers are easy, keep it simple. Broadcast a 25 lb bag evenly over the acre. Set your disk to 2 or 3" depth, and lightly disk the seed in. Apply some fertilizer if you wish, 50 to 100 lbs of 20-20-20 or similar.

Thanks ,Yesterday I was disking in some of last years corn stalks.I am thinking there are to many stalks to get a corn planter thru.So I was thinking I would just broad cast sunflowers instead.
Thanks For the help; Jim
