NC Summer Food Plot Recommendations.

I have a couple of places to hunt this coming year. All three are around 100 acres, with an area about 20 acres on each for food plots. I've planted green patch plus in the fall, but the deer only ate the rye and wheat, but not the brasicas*. It does not frost down here early enough for them to really start using the food plot until deer season is over.

Basically my two questions are what should I plant in the spring, when should I plant, and how much should I plant.
And the second question is the same, but for the fall.

I was thinking clover in the spring, but I have no clue what to plant for the fall because I've tried other things in the past and the deer dont really start hitting the food plots until after deer season.

Thx.

Let me try to work this out, " I have a couple places to hunt and all 3 have about 20 acres for food plots in each one" Is that 60 acres for food plots, you dont need that much in food plots. That wood cost you about $1728. just for RR soybeans plue fuel, fert, weed killer, etc, Plant maybe an acre in each location in foodplots, try some soybeans planted late , try June, then in the fall plant some wheat or rye, should suffice....

Wow... $1728. That's a good estimate. I was just giving my situation. I only plant about an Acre on each location, supplemented with Minerals, corn, and the occasional bag of Buck Grub.

I think I am going to plant some soybeans, and winter wheat and rye.

The only other thing would be what to plant for the summer months. I was thinking clover, but will I still be able to hunt it once Sept. 11 rolls around for opening day?

June Planted Soybeans would be a great Summer Plot - and be about perfect maturity or deer use - about Mid Sept.

You cannot often go wrong with Clover - for any season.

Thx Farm. I'll prolly plant Clover in late March and then plant soybeans and clover for the fall.
