Default What about wheat

I have about a 3 acre spot that I'm going to make a food plot out of, it already has a stand of grass, mostly fescue, do I need to spray and kill the grass that is there before sowing or just plow it up and go from there. I have noticed that the wheat fields around here really attract alot of deer and turkey, would sowing just wheat be a good move or should you use one of the mixes that are available?

You could use the wheat as a nurse crop for clover/alfalfa. That way you end up with a perennial legume that the deer can feed on after the wheat is gone.
