I am thinking of planting both of these this spring. Just wondering if anyone has had success with them and what time of year the deer prefer them. I just want to try and give the deer something else to eat that is not found on any neighboring properties.

A friend of mine who has since passed on used to plant turnips for market and couldn;t keep the deer out of them, they should be planted the last of July, first of Aug, now that is in Delaware, don't know about WI., but are good deer cover, so is rape.

Planted turnips and rape together this past spring and was very disappointed. Plants came up very spotty and deer did not seem to use. I'm going to try to plant some corn in this area after I disk up the rape and turnnips this spring
