When we planted our plot we limed but did not fertilize. We have 4 different small plots and was wondering if I should go back and fertilize it now to give it a boost. The first major frost is coming this week and Buck Oats mixed with clover is what I planted. If I do fertilize what 0-0-0 should I use? Thanks

I would hold on to your fertilizer until the spring, after the frost comes things aren't going to grow much and most will leach away by spring. A 10-10-10 would cover you for both but it really depends on your soil test.

No way of knowing which percent mix of fertilizer to apply without first doing a soil test. If you can collect thesoil sample before it freezes, there's plenty of time to send it for analysis then apply the correct fertilizer next spring.

0-10-5 or 0-10-10. If there is clover, you dont need much nitrogen as the clover will "fix" its own from the air. If you fertilize, you will be giving the weeds a boost, which you don't want to do. Also, the second and third number is your phosphorous and potassium, which will promote root growth and help the host plants fight disease.
