for frost seeding to be effective you need warm daily temps and freezing nights to form cracks & honeycombs in the ground. little to no snow is ideal also. In the north it is generally mid march into april (the same time we are making maple syrup). also remember it only works with legumes (most effective anyway)

I agree with Doughboy. Wait til the snow is gone. I've had my best results on bare ground. Putting it on top of snow opens the possibility of it washing off when it melts. I've done it as early as Nov. The seed will sitdormantuntil the the freeze/thaw cycles. It'll germinate as soon as it warms up.
