Default Quick Planting Question, opinions wanted.

Well, I'm planting this weekend. Mainly Clover and Wheat with some Korean Lespedeza on the dam of our lake.

I've got a pound of old bird seed, which includes: Millet, Rape,Canary, Flax and Niger Seed. I know deer love Millet and Rape, which comes in some food plot blends. I've got an area where I could spread this old bird seed, anyone see anything wrong with this? Just sort of an experimental thing. I'm thinking this area could benefit rabbits, quail, turkey, etc. The only thing I can see is one of the seeds being invasive and takingover?I'll do some research on my own, but would really appreciate your opinions.

(I'm one of those guys that hates to throw something away) (Last case resort, I'll just throw the seed out over the snow for the birds this winter)

My vote is feed the birds in the winter. I have no way of knowing, but I suspect "cheap" trade show seeds for introducing canada thistle, dodder, and a few other noxious weeds to my farm. I would put bird seed in the suspect category. I now only use seed from reputable dealers.

Feed the birds with the food. Spenda few bucks for some decent seed.
