In general, fall is the best time to plant trees, provided they of adequate health that they can be transplanted. I just planted four apple trees on my farm on Labor Day. Check with your local nursery as far as the best times to fertilize and what is needed for your soiltype and weather conditions. I chose not to fertilize because the trees appeared to be in great shape with adequate stores of nutrients and the soil had been fertilized in the area I planted. I will put tree spikes done by them in the spring. You probably won't need or want to do any pruning for a couple years after planting ..... I prune trees when they are inactive. One more thing ..... you may need to build an enclosure or fence to keep the deer from browsing your new trees for a few years until the can get establihsed. Deer like to nibble every tender thing that is at eye level or below. Good luck!!

The best time to plant apple and peaches is in the winter when the trees are in their dormant stage. Fertilize in the spring march or april most people use 10-10-10 . Also prune in the winter when dormant
