Default Is it too early for this?

I want to plant a small food plot (1/4 acre at most) in between a bedding area and a large hayfield that deer congeregate to during the early season in the evenings. I want the food plot to maybe act as a staging area to stop deer in front of my stand on their way to the field. Bow season starts in mid-September. The area is wooded but I am sure I could get something growing so I was thinking about one of the "secret spot" blends or a "no-plow." When should I get the seeds in the ground so that the deer are using it regualrly by mid-Spetember? thanks guys-

Start it now and if the deer eat it all you can plant it again. Chances are they wont eat all of it.
