Default Deer on a golf bag cart

Last hunting season I experimented with using a hand-pulled golf bag cart to haul my deer out of the woods for the 2.5 mile hike to my truck. The results were good - for my back and the deer...of course the first time the game warden saw me pulling my deer up the hill to the truck he did have to make a joke about a "hole in one".

So for those who hunt on a shoe-string budget, here's how to use a hand-pulled golf bag cart for your deer cart. Take one flea-market golf cart (@$3), field dress deer, strap butt/hind quarter of deer to bottom of cart, strap head/front shoulder to top of cart -and for large deer a strap in the middle works good. Sling rifle and roll deer to your truck - all the weight is on the golf cart wheels. For safety drape a blaze orange rag over the head and antlers just in case.

By the way it also works for pulling your tree stand, rifle, gear within an easy distance of your favorite tree. Just handcarry your stand/rifle/gear for the last few hundred yards out of respect to the deer's sensitive hearing.

Hey, thanks for the idea! I'm definitely gonna try that. Been thinking about buying one of those carts from Cabela's but @ $99 or more, I just knew there had to be a cheaper alternative. Seems that the golf bag cart will fold up even flatter.

I got an older one with big tires and one of the places I plan on hunting is a trek from the road!

Thanks for the idea!

Great idea! I'm kind of cheap too. I've used my wheelbarrow to get my last few deer back to the truck. Jim

my wife and all my hunting buddies say they have never saw anyone like me,in the club they call me Mcgiver.I rig all sorts of things,I watch yard sales, dumpsters.
One day I stopped and turned around and went back to a sale in a jiffy store parking lot. they had a golf bag carrier,my wife said you don't play golf.she didn't have anything else to say when I carried the corn into the stand and a buck out to the truck.

they work great and &quot;I Am Cheap&quot;<img src=icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thanks for sharing that idea. I have a wheeled wood carrier that holds up to 200 lbs of wood. The advantage of the golf cart is it has a lower center of gravity. The wheels on the wood carrier are narrrower,so it is a little tipsy. Still, these are cheap alternatives to dragging. Incedentally. if you are dragging, an old water ski rope handle works perfectly to pull the deer out.
