Nope. Year after year I've shot deer within yards of gutpiles from the previous days. One season I shot one opening morning, gutted her right there. That night my brother shot another 10 yards aaway from the pile. The next morning I dropped a third right between the 2 piles. Guts don't seem to bother them in the least.

I field dress right away and in some cases would quarter if the law allowed but it don't in the east.

I always up field dress them as soon as i recover them. You don't want the gasses to build up.

Gut it in the field, and usually just put the heart in the carcass while i drag it
