I shot a doe this year in the neck with a 140gr Accubond out of my .270. She was facing me, and it entered in her throat and went out the back of her neck and left a hole almost that big when it hit the spine. Her head popped off when I was dragging her out..........it was quite a PITA.

I've never seen an entrance or exit wound like that before.....anything is possible I spose. Definite overkill!! And Whats with the Duct tape on the antler....it does not look like any tag I've ever seen.

I was so tramatised by that hole, I didn't even look for an exit hole. And believe it or not the deer went about 60 yards...

jci63, do you know what grain bullet you were using?
This really looks to me like the bullet exploded upon impact. (the bullet was too light for deer or defective)
To those who have never seen this kind of thing happen. Shoot a coyote in the shoulder with a 55gr 30-06 accelerator.

I believe this could be a bullet wound. But would not have believed it if it had not happened to me.
45 yards with a 300RUM 180 GR Nosler on a Speed Goat produced a wound you could pass a football through. How the entrance wound got so big I dont know, but needless to say there was some incidental meat loss.
I wish I had pictures, but the guide went out of his way in taking the pictures to cover any wound.
