I'm quite urked at the guy who did it....he won't be getting anymore business from me EVER....it was an average price....he's lucky it wasn't more.
I should have kept going to the lady who does awesome work but she has a bad habit of not returning calls so i trusted my processors taxidermist.....NEVER again.
But at least he's home....and he does look a lil better on the wall than in the pic....not by much but a lil...i'll just hang him a lil higher and then you won't be able to see the ridge as bad.

yeah it's a florida buck.
got him opening morning of muzzleloader season.
dropped him at about 17yds.
it was the most emotional intense moment in my life....all i could do was hyperventilate...lol.
the 8pt is mine too....he's still my favorite even though he's smaller.
i had hunted the same place for years and dreamed every hunt that i'd get a 8pt at this one fallen tree next to the creek...and one morning it happened EXACTLY where i had dreamed about...it couldn't have been more perfect.
i spoke to my ex taxidermist tonite...she actually returned a call.
i'll be bringing my 10pt. in hopefully this weekend and she's gonna touch up the paint and see what she can do about the ridge....she does AWESOME work...even puts vains in the nostrils.
found out she still has my feet from the 8pt that i had done for my gun rack but thought she had lost them cause she never returned any of my calls.....at least something good happened.

Huntress
I'm no professional taxidermist or anything, but I have dabbled in it on occasion. It's a lot harder to mount a deer with the "summer coat" still on. It's paper-thin and the hair is really, really short, which makes the seam really visible. Also, the ears will be almost transparent if you don't put a little paint on them or you don't use a certain kind of ear inserts.
I helped with a summer coat mount once, it was very difficult. I don't think your mount looks all that bad. Just hang it above eye-level so the neck seam is well-hidden.
Good deer by the way.
