I'm no professional taxidermist or anything, but I have dabbled in it on occasion. It's a lot harder to mount a deer with the "summer coat" still on. It's paper-thin and the hair is really, really short, which makes the seam really visible. Also, the ears will be almost transparent if you don't put a little paint on them or you don't use a certain kind of ear inserts.

I helped with a summer coat mount once, it was very difficult. I don't think your mount looks all that bad. Just hang it above eye-level so the neck seam is well-hidden.
