2 W/30-30 Both went about 80 yds.
A bunch with a 35 Remington, 200 grain RN
Then I got a .35 Whelen 180,200,gr. and even 1 with a 250gr, (doe). She couldn't run, both feet were in the air. I carry 2 250gr.in my pocket but haven't used one since.

.223 little small hole, Punched through
.44 REM Mag Big hole no exit hole
7.62x39mm No exit hole deer went 100 yards travel ( sorry Viet Vets)
30.06 Big hole, punched through
The 30.06 is my choice, puts them down.

Russ what grain/type of ammo were you using in the 30-30???? I can not beleive two deer, not one, but two deer ran 80 yards after getting hit with a 30-30. The deer I have killed with my 30-30 dropped where they stood, actually it knocked them flat! I am shooting 150 grain corloks

.243 was a little too light for my liking
.270 was great, flat shooting!!!!!
7.62x39mm SKS (.30 cal, shorter case than a .30-30) not much at long distances, but not a lot of damage, cheap ammunition!!!!!!! Semi auto is kinda fun.
.30-06 is my favorite, knockdown power of a semi for whitetails.
12 gauge not any fun, but fun to try, not very accurate
compound bow, talk about real hunting, I got so close I could have killed it with a stick
