RE: what calibers have you killed deer with?
Well, let's see:
Several with 12 ga. using buckshot
A few with 12 ga slug
A few with a 30-30
A couple with a .300 Savage
A few with a .270
A bunch with a 30-06
All of the above killed deer just fine, but I finally got tired of trailing wounded (dead on their feet) deer a hundred yards or so. So, I bought a .300 Win Mag about 8 years ago, and put an end to that problem. I've killed many deer with it since I bought it, and I've had only two deer run on me after being shot, and the furthest of those was about 40 yards. I don't buy into the "too much gun" theory...in my book, dead is dead. And the closer it falls to where I shoot it, the better it is for me.
