I'm 38 years old. Born and raised on a farm in WV. Hunted and fished since I could hold a gun or pole. Shot my 1st deer at 11 with a rifle. Rifle hunted up through 1991. Got bored. Picked up a bow for Christmas, practiced all year with 3-D's, took 3 deer and have never used a rifle since. Even during gun season. I've harvested deer with a bow in WV, NC, SC, NJ, and TN by scouting on my own. In the Spring and Summer I shoot Open B in ASA. I think next Spring, I'll try my hand at turkeys with a bow. I've got 3 boys (14, 12, 9). I'm getting them involved with hunting and fishing too.

WV Hunter

I'm 35. I've been hunting since 13. No one in my family hunted, so I self taught myself beginning with a bb gun for squirrels. That was a tough one....trying to convince my parents to buy me a bb gun at 13...LOL.
Killed my first deer at 16, and have enjoyed hunting small and big game since. I hunt in Va and WV every season, and use bow, muzzleloader and rifle, and sometimes shotgun and pistol. I've focused on bow hunting mainly for the past 12 years. Killed alot of deer both with a bow and various guns. But never a REAL big one. I've learned an awful lot over the years by trial and error...LOL, and mostly just enjoy being out there. Like others have said, my goals as a hunter have changed over the years. Now I realy don't have any desire to shoot small bucks anymore. However I do consider any game animal taken to be a personal trophy. A few years back I had the opportunity to introduce my dad to hunting, and now we enjoy it together. I have a son that is almost 5 and is very excited to be able to hunt. He has gone out with me some for the last 2 years, and loves it. He has his own bow, and bb gun and is actually a decent shot for a 4 year old. Anymore, I'm looking forward to hunting with him, (and my daughter when she gets a little older) more than anything else. There is nothing like seeing the sheer and honest excitement of a child in the outdoors! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Oh, we love to fish also, though we don't get to go as often as I would like. Lastly, I'm real interested in eventually starting to hunt out west. Can't wait. Nice post!

I'am 20 years old. Been hunting since 4 been big game hunting since 18
here in N.B. you have to be 18 to hunting big game. So I guess this is my third season Deer hunting, I started bows about 3 years ago. I'am a self taught bow hunter I picked the sport up on my own. I love bow hunting but, I go gun hunt too. I hunt ducks, partridge, woodcock, rabbits, crows, coyotoes, bear, moose. My favorite hunting is for rabbits. I also trout smallmouth, musky. and miss saltwater. I competed for about 2 years in tournament fishing with a buddy, We are the youngest team we're both 20, with a highest finish of 2nd place. As for hunting The season opens next week and I have found a huge buck!

I'm 49 and have been hunting for about 35 yrs. I've been fortunate enough to have taken a lot more deer than the yrs I've been hunting, thanks to states that have generous bag limits like Va and NY state. Out of those yrs of hard hunting, I've really only taken 2 what I would call &quot;wall hangers&quot; but every one of them have been a challenge and I'm grateful for each of them. Hope all the younger hunters out there can say the same thing in the yrs to come!

welcome Phade and your correct this is a great sight, I enjoy it alot. I'm 39 years old was brought up hunting, tracking by my grandma she even handed me the 30-30 when i was 7 giving me my first buck a nice 5pt been addicted since, I perfer bowhunting by far and i use the recurve that my grandma used and handed to me 27 years ago it's an awesome sport.....good luck fellow hunters

Im 15 years old and have been shooting a gun since i was about 4. First gun i ever fired was a single shot 22. The next day i graduated to an old double barrel 410. I got a lil &quot;longbow&quot; when i was 5. Started to shoot several deer and turkey with it....lol...but u know, 5 year olds w/ toy boys never killed much. :P I've been bowhunting ever since. My favorite things to hunt are : ducks, deer, and turkeys. I killed my first deer when i was 11 with a lil bitty bear whitetail ultra light. Killed my first turkey when i was 12.

I am 42 years old, I hunted pheasant and rabbits for about 15 years. I used to wonder who would want to sit in a tree all day to hunt deer. About 7 years ago when I found out that Illinois had a handgun season for deer and I got interested in it and gave it a try. Well thats all it took, now I hunt deer with a bow- muzzleloader- rifle- and handgun. Have not been pheasant/rabbit hunting since.
