Hi, I apolagize for my ignorance. Here is my situation. I'm 17 and this is my first year hunting where I was unable to purchase a doe license. I've hunted since 13 and typically shoot a deer (doe) within the first 4 days of the season, while the rut is still present I believe. Two years ago I got my first and only buck, a decent sized 5 point. I just happened to get lucky because he followed the doe to the bait pile. My hunting group typically all hunt for the meat, but there is that ego booster of getting a buck of course. Though the bucks don't usually mature past 2 1/2 years around here so most taken are like 3-8 pointers.
so anways here is my question. I was able to hunt opening day and that was all do to school and work. But I am going out all day tomorrow (Nov 21). I have typically taken a deer by now so I am unsure how to hunt the bucks since that is what I must now hunt. Are they still rutting? should i use esterus and buck rut scents to bring them in?
or is the rut over and will that spook them? I typically want to avoid rattling because I dont want to scare any younger bucks away. But will they be coming to the bait pile? or is the rut still in process? What approach do you guys recommend for me to use tomorrow? BTW I'm hunting from a ground blind if it makes a difference

I would say go hunt like you are after a doe.
The rut is just getting started here in NC.
So if the bucks are chaseing the does theres a real good chance you will see a buck to
Get a shot at.
If you are in a blind you could get a primos can that makes the doe sound.
And a set of antlers or one of those bags that imatate antlers.
Any way you do it watch for hot does and the bucks will be behind them shortly.
Good Luck and when you get one post the picture OK.
