I can't. Too close to about 5 houses. I would need permission from all of them. NJ law: 150 yards from a building w/out permission.
This past summer and fall... two nice 8-pointers were in my back yard a few times. They are not as tame as the doe.
If I shot them with my shotgun I would probably get arrested and lose my hunting license in NJ. If I shot them with my bow...the deer would probably die on someone's lawn.

She has had the broken ankle since June. She appears to be surviving just fine in between the houses. She manages to walk and run on it... I feel bad too. But I am too close to other people's houses to shoot her with a bow (quite) or gun (loud).

Doing the right thing even if the conditions are wrong can be costly sometimes. If you are even the slightest bit hesitant about shooting her due to the homes, I wouldn't . It might just be that you will have to knock on your neighbors door to ask to retrieve the dead deer in their yard - probably not a good thing if they are opposed to hunting - just my 2 cents.
