I was watching CNN the other night and they were talking about the battle in Fallujah. To help illustrate where the city was and how much was occupied by US forces, the went to the map. The map was a highly detailed, 3D image of the city which allowed CNN to zoom in to almost street level. Pretty nifty if you ask me.
Anyway, upon further study, I noticed that a website called www.keyhole.com was included on the map. Just for kicks, I went to the site to see what it was all about. I was not disappointed. The same software that CNN uses during newscasts is available for a trial download. Needless to say I downloaded the 7 day trial version.
Where was the first place I went? My hunting grounds, of course! I typed in the name of the city and it literally flew me to it. Once there, you can zoom in, rotate, and tilt the image. And, the images are about 2 years old which isn't bad considering some other topo sites have images that are close to 10 years old. Very cool and very helpful for hunting purposes. The only problem is that some images may appear blurry. Other than that, it definitely worth the download.
Check it out! www.keyhole.com
Thanks,
Mike

Wow that terraserver thing is soo cool, i just found my mom and dads house where i was born and raised. I could see my house, the trout stream across the road where i used to fish and the field behind it where i picked off several deer. The pick was from 91 but i still recongnize everything.

Went to keyhole and did the free trial. Awesome pictures and features. Think the shots are a couple of years old but still usefull if your place has not changed. Found my lease with the first shot and then found my house.
Thnks.
