I like unscented baby wipes instead of paper for obvious reasons. Best advice my squad leader ever gave me.

Dang, I gotta get more stuff! I usually carry a loaded rifle and a knife, permit, and soft paper.
I was in wallyworld buying my rifle permits and overheard two old fellas admiring all the gadetry, pee, and gizmos for sale. One asked the other if he thought there'd be a deer left in the county when it was all over. The other was contemplating taking a whiz in a bottle and selling it.

This may be an extra, but a saw for rib and/or pelvis during field dressing...
I got my first deer tonight! well, not my first, the 1st first was 5 y ears ago with a much experienced older friend, and I 'thought' I knew how to field dress.
the processor said I didnt do too bad, but a saw for that area would be MUCH better than dulling the knife like I did.....
geez..kind of an upsetting situation!
just my two cents..

Well, I hunt in the mountains in NY and there is always a chance that you get lost and have to spend a night in the woods, so I always bring a lighter, a small container of lighter fluid or butane, and some gatorade. I recently purchased a GPS, so my odds of getting lost aren't as good anymore, but you never know when that thing will break, or when I'll be caught out there in a storm and won't really get any satelite reception. Also, I always bring in plenty of doe and buck urine and a grunt call. Also, my hunting license and tags, a little snack, like a candy bar or some slim jims, some orange tape to mark where I find blood if I hit a deer, and a mask. There are probably things that I'm forgetting too of coarse.

"Buckeyes" in regards to getting lost or finding a pre-placed stand in unfamilar territory. But remember to mark both sides of the tree for use in both directions and with a flashlight when it is dark of course it lights you path up like a river channel at night with a Q beam. Buckeyes = reflective thumb tacks. If you are familar with the rules of channel markers you can use different colors to mark direction also.
