Got two rifles ready.
I went to the range today as the wind was down to about 10-15 miles an hour after blowing 35-40 for the last three days. Our deer season is still a month off but I am putting the final touches on sighting in rifles before the temps drom down to November levels which can be from 0-40 degrees with below zero and 60 above being possable. 13 below is the coldest opening day that I can recall and about 65 is the highest and that ain't likely. I shot my 7600 30-06 today and though I was not real steady and am not the best shooter at paper targets, I put nine shots in about a 2 inch circle . That should be close enough. I have it sighted about 1 1/2 inches high at 100 yards. The 6.5x55 as usual put five shots in just over an inch. I have it sighted about the same for up and down. I am shooting 150 grain Sierra Pro hunter bullets in the 06 and 120 pro-hunters in the 6.5x55. I still need to shoot the wife's 250 Savage yet but she said if I don't get to it she will be glad to use the old Swede as well. She shot it well the last time we went out to chronograph some loads. That 7600 shoots really well. I can take it to the range any day with just about any load, factory or hand load and that gun will shoot 1 1/2 groups without fail. I have had very few bolt guns that I would put up against it for hunting accuracy. This is the fourth one I have had and they have all been that good. One, a 270 is tied for the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. With 130 grain Ballistic tips I have shot 3/4 inch groups(three shot) at 200 yards and have done it several times. The only other gun I have been able to match that with was an ever more unlikely candidtae for accuracy. That being a Savage over and under gun with a 20 ga over 30-30 barrel. With 125 grain Ballistic tips I have shot 3/4 inch two hundred yard groups with it as well.

RE: Got two rifles ready.
Only two? I've worked up a Marlin in .375 Winchester, a new to me Savage 99E in .243, my wife's 1903 Springfield sporter in .30/06, and my old standby, a 96 Mauser sporter in 6.5x55. Hoping to get a 96 actioned .257 Roberts finished and worked up for whitetails, only about 5 weeks left!

Only two today. That was yeserday now. Today I took the 308 A-Bolt out and checked it out. I shot 4 three shot groups. The smallest was 3/4 of an inch and the largest was 1.3 inches. I am shooting the 150 grain Nosler Partition in that one. Two days ago I zeroed in the 257 Robert.(700 Rem) and my 6.5x55.( Sporterized model 38 Mauser.) I shoot the Hornady 100 Interlock in the 257 and the 120 Gr Sierra Pro Hunter in the 6.5. I still have the NEF 280 to go. Oh and my Wife's 250-3000.( 700 Rem).
