Will you have to worry a little about Danny when he gets older during the rut? My uncle is a deer farmer, and he says it's risky bottle feeding bucks because then during the rut, they have no fear of humans. He also said every year there are deer farmers hurt real bad and even worse killed by bucks during the and almost all of them had been bottle fed. I don't know if it's all true, but if it is, stay safe, they're powerful animals.

I dont think I could raise deer then go and shoot another deer even in the wild

The rack eventually stops growing. But, I've noticed that when he sheds his rack his new one starts coming in right behind it, with the velvet on. I've got a picture of these deer from early Spring, I'll post later today, when I get a chance.
Closest thing I can parallel it with is our teeth. After we loose our baby teeth, there is one right behind it. It stops growing. (But, if you develop velvet on your teeth, that's a whole nuther problem, lol)....

LOL....welllllllllll.....a camera on this deer......It would be hard to shoot a deer you have raised. Especially one we have bottle fed.....

In answer to Cardeer's post.....I don't have a problem hunting wild deer after raising these. I think of it like the Indians. They lived amongst God's creatures closer than most of us do. They saw them face to face everyday, just like I do here. They respected the ebb & flow of nature, just like we hunters do. I harvest deer from the wild for meat to put on our table. I'm not one to be after a big rack. Even though that sounds weird being in the business that I'm in. I'm thankful for a good healthy deer to put in the freezer.
I enjoy the hunt whether I get a harvest or not.

Yes I will. I don't go into the pen any farther than I have to during rut. When I took that close picture of Danny I had pushed on his rack up a little bit to get a closer picture. (I was risking my life for you guys LOL) He pushed back, but, not too hard. But, it's not a good idea to get close to any buck during rut.

We don't cut their racks. We need to separate them soon so they won't tear each other up.

The picture of Hot Shot and friend verifies that all bucks, regardless of age and nutrition (I'm assuming they have the same feed) will not grow large antlers. I doubt if "friend" will get a lot larger antlers.
