No katbones, I apologize, so don't be sorry. I forget what it was like to be new to the sport. Truth be told, I'm still learning as I go. But don't sweat this one. Really skinning isn't hard at all.

Four inch fillet knife.
I cut saw teeth in to the back side of it to keep the blade sharp and it does any limb sawing I need as well. Cheap, $10, EZ to clean,sharp as a razor, ez to use, does a great job.
I noticed the other day Rapala is making one with the saw in the back of the blade now, but you pay dearly for it. $25.
