Anyone ever planted Austrian Winter Peas with winter Wheat mixed with it and if so how did it do? Tks for any input

I've planted seed blends that incluced Austrian WInter Peas several times and when the peas come up the deer would clip them off when they were 2 or 3 inches tall andd they wouldn't come back. They weren't very useful in my opinion.
