Default sighting in gun

My shotgun that I shot last year how many yards should I shoot at to see if it is still alright? Also I am not to sure on at what yards where the bullet should hit. I think it is something like 25 yards - 2" above target, 50- dead on, and 100 yards - 2 " below. Lastly I want to sight my .22 what yards should I start at?

sight them dead on where you are most likely to see game at.........only makes sense to me...then learn wehre you hit closer.....and farther then that.....and memorize it incase one is close or far youll know where your going to hit and can compensate for it if it is needed...........
