Antlers make good handles.
Yeah, I agree, dragging is something you need to pace yourself at.
In rugged terrain, I found it was helpful to have a small pulley. I tied it off to a tree upslope of the deer, ran a rope from the deer, though the pulley, and then tied it to my waist. A good sized guy can pull a deer up a hill by running down the hill. Helps a lot to have a buddy steer it a bit to keep it clear of snags.
