The way it works is landowners are permitted to apply for a certain percentage of the available NR deer tags. If they draw(and they always draw at least a few),those tags can be transfered ONCE only to anyone they choose. The actual cost of those tags is the same as everybody... about $221.00. BUT, be prepared to shell out a premium if you get your tag in this manner. Out of 6 guys in our group..... we drew 2 tags. The others got transferable tags that averaged about $500.00 each. In Unit 15 I've heard that just the tags can go for as much as $3,000.00. It takes at least one preference point to draw a tag in most areas,so expect to come up empty your first try......
We have bird hunted for many years with the guy we deal with,and only recently did we start deer hunting. It's a rare and wonderful arrangement. I feel extremely lucky! Check your PM................
