Gee..you can almost taste the sarcasm.The production of melanin is genetically linked,but because of it being a recessive characteristic,it actually becomes less common through reproduction.If you don't believe me...look it up!

Your taxidermist is an idiot - the deer is a piepald, and the recessive genes i am sure are carried by most deer. Every now and then those genes mix just right and you get piebalds and even rarer, albinos. Even rarer still ( I have heard) are black deer - melanistic deer that are solid black. Ultra cool looking animals.

guess i was wrong lol i had read that in a magazine and just beleived it hahah im gullibe lol is melanism genetic to? i do know one for sure sign of overpopulation seven deer hit within a quarter mile of each other on the road lol right hree in front of my house
