You can deer hunt in Bama with one if you want to, not sure about any other state.

I have heard of people hunting Hogs with spears. I have one of those cold steel spears. Man it a wicked looking weapon. I have carried it in the pick-up for killing Rattle snakes while hauling bales of hay.

In Central America I hunted for caimen a few times with a spear with the Indian guides who took me peacock bass fishing. They weren't the monsters you'd find in Africa or Australia, but we took a few near or slightly over 10 feet.

The guides would use every ounce of a caimen from the meat to the hide to the bones. The spear allowed you to "feel" the caimen on the bottom ... but I don't mind admitting it was a little tense using your toes to locate exactly where they were in the muck after they were done.

They sure did eat good though.

I would love to hunt with a spear. I have thought about making one for awhile now. I'd have to talk to a game officer to see if its legal which it probally isn't in colorado. But man what a challenge.

Before looking at the date I thought this may have been an April Fool's joke.

In PA the specific weapons legal for each season are listed in the hunting digest. I would assume that to be the case for most states.

A spear is not on the list anywhere.

No joke here. While I personally have put my last spear hunt behind me, many people hunt with them. I know bear over bait and wild boar are 2 of the more popular animals hunted this way.

Hey, if its legal and your into it, more power to you.

I watched a video made by a swivel seat stand company - I forget its name.

They hunted bear over bait with a spear. It really was increadible as the guy thrust this huge spear into a 300lb bear[]

I don't think they come with a handle long enough for me
