Default Tree Climbers

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with using climbing gaffs instead of tree steps or climbing sticks. I see that Cabelas is selling them now. Let me know if you have an opinion.
Thanks

Used them climbing telephone poles, but think how difficult it would be getting in and out of a stand with them on. Have you ever used gaffs? Its not as easy as it looks. My opinion is using steps or climbing sticks are safer.

Gaffs are not the best, Like mentioned they are intended for smooth poles not trees with bark..use the steps or stick

Unless you are VERY experienced using gaffs you will probably eat a big bark sandwich sooner or later.
