If some of you guy's found matching sheds that have not been damaged by animals for calcium, what would you do with them?

Throw em in a box?
Use them for rattling?
Mount them in some way if they were trophy? Jackelope maybe?

What could a texidermist do with them?

I found a matching set of Trophy Axis horns and need some ideas. Of course I wouldn't use them for rattling but would like to show them off.

I would mount em on a replica skull plate if I were you.

I would polish them up and use for rattling.

i've found quite a few sets of whitetail sheds. When i find a set i tape them together and throw them in the old bin on my farm that holds all my sheds. I just collect all my sheds and keep them as a hobby. I know several local guys buy single sheds and sets so selling the antlers are one option. Another option is use them for rattling but i often just use 2 different sheds rather than a set. I have found a set off the same deer for the past 2 years and i'm thinking about getting the sets mounted so thats another option.

The set I found is from an Axis. I haven't found any from a white-tail yet. I guess a taxidermist could mount them but would need a cape correct?

I like to keep them all around to look at. I have 3 piles for different sizes. I usually end up looking through my piles a couple times a month. I would never be able to damage a shed antler by leaving it outside in the sun or where mice can get at them. I keep every shed that I find no matter how small.

I've never really looked for shed's before, what's the best time to start looking around? March?

Bobo, yes you need a cape to get them shoulder mounted. Check with your taxidermist he may have a cape for you. You could get them mounted on a skull cap mount with a plague as well.

I keep every shed I find, regardless of the shape or size. I have some stored in a box, some on shelves, some mounted on a skull cap/plague, used them for making things, rattling if real fresh (but not matcher's, as they are rare and real trophies imo) and I would mount a set in a heartbeat if I found the right set in excellent shape.

Pearl, not sure in your parts but check with the DNR they should be able to give you an idea when to start looking. Here it is Jan-March, factors such as stress will vary when they drop as well. I start looking hard come Feb though as a general rule.
