AKbound I wont deny that I'm prolly guilty of sporthunting a time or two. I mean I am after the biggest rack possible so In a sense I am sporthunting and I did take a bobcat once with a bow, there I said it . LOL I didnt like the way I felt afterwards. I too was raised on "you eat what you kill " and I can tell you this blackbird tastes like $hit. I know my dad made me eat one that I had killed at a young age with my pellet gun. LOL

im heading to africa for plains game this may and plan on eating as many tasty critters as possible. the rest will go to the locals who need it. no elephant though maybe a zebra.

Friday 8:00. A small bar called Dietz's off route 30 in Lancaster PA. Nice smalltown bar, great crowd and cold beer. What more could you ask for?

Hi bearklr,

That sounds like a great offer! If you'll grant me a "raincheck"....I'll take you up on it in the near future! I live in Westmoreland County, (not so far...and no big deal...plus I'd like to get to the new Cabelas soon anyway). But I can't make it this Friday. Tomorrow I'm going under the knife. Have some kind of tumor in the sinus cavity extending down into the gumline and the palate. Don't know how long the recovery will take....until after the procedure. Though by Friday.....a few beers would probably go a long ways towards making me more comfortable;)! Heck, I've only had two beers in about the last 25 years.....so one beer would probably go along way towards making me comfortable:D!

I don't feel that hunting has anything to do with eating your quarry (although as stated above, the quarry of these hunts ARE used and eaten by locals), none of us on here NEED to hunt to provide food for our family, if we did, we wouldn't be here anymore because we'd have sold our computer!!!! In this day and age, hunting is a sport, that's why we're called "sportsmen", maybe soccer isn't your game, maybe elephant hunting is.

To many, an african hunt is like the superbowl of hunting, something to aspire to. I firmly believe that africa is a hunt like no other, you'll work harder for african game than pretty much any other game you'll ever hunt, maybe turn up empty handed, or maybe turn up dead...hunting something that can kill you is part of the game, part of the thrill, and getting close enough to shoot a rhino without dumping in your pants is a challenge in itself.

For me, no matter what the hunt, as long as the quarry is used, even if it is just a trophy hunt, it is still an ethical hunt-say you don't want to eat/use your quarry, donating the meat from your 180pt whitetail to Hunters Feeding Homeless is a noble act, so you get a trophy out of it, there's no harm in that...hunting JUST for a trophy and scrapping the carcass and only saving the rack isn't right, but taking the hunting trip of a life time and donating the quarry is something that not many people are able to do, and those that can are extremely lucky for the opportunity.

On a side note, I tend to agree with the others that your initial line was an attack in itself, and a cowards attack at that-proclaiming that you didn't want to hear rebutes from those that simply disagree with you...then again, proclaiming that you were able to find employment and procreate because of your astounding 7th grade education should have tipped me off to begin with.
