Hey griller,

Then they'd qualify for "animal welfare".....might even have "meth" provided! And get to live in "public funded tree trunks"........aahhh..what a life. And getting a free "nut" all the time[:o]!

Great stuff guys! Yeah..did some gazel hunting at a few bars in my time. Quit that type of hunting after I got blind stinking drunk one night and tried to mount one of those elephant types. She almost trampled me when I snapped out of it before closing the deal. Ya gotta be careful in the bush!

I think next time I go huntin at the bar I am gonna take one of them there dart guns so I can get me one of them trophy critters. I'm tired of mount'n the elephants and hippos and gorillas and I sure ain't gonna eat'em. If I could just dart me a real trophy and get my picture taken that would be OK

Hey

WV here too, cant remember the last time I saw an elephant here, well at the circus but I didnt have an urge to hunt it. But I too can understand the reason for having to hunt these animals, just like deer the herd has to be controled. It is just one thing that the anti hunters refuse to acknowledge, if we never take another deer, pretty soon there will be too many deer followed by no deer at all.

First of I'd like to say it if its legal then it,s ok I myself wouldn't do it however I dont buy into the "if left unchecked they'll dwindle down to nothing." theory. So by controlling a herd they thrive better ? Then why dont ya'll just quit shooting coyotes and groundhogs and such, I mean if left unchecked they'll dwindle down to nothing. LOL . Thats bull and you know it. These animals have thrived long before you and I were here and prolly will be after were gone. If a species doesnt make it thats natures natural selection. Nature has a way of doing that. What needs to be kept in check are the poachers and hunters not the animals. LOL. And dont call me a peta member. I am a hunter through and through. I'm just open minded and see both sides of the fence and call it like it is.
I dont have to ice my hunting cake to make it sound ethical. LOL. Sport hunting is not my cup of tea and I wont diss you if its yours. But dont lie to my face and say your keeping the animals in check. Thats a load of crap.

Hey zrexpilot,

If you are not sport hunting...what are you doing? Poaching? Or are you one of the few native americans in this country that actually have a license to subsistence hunt? Just because you happen to eat the deer you shot....does not mean it wasn't "sport hunting"!

Do you really provide a living for you and or your family through hunting? If the answer to that is anything "other than yes".....and you ain't poaching...it's defined as "sport hunting". Eating what you kill doesn't change that one iota!

Just because you ice the cake....doesn't mean the cake isn't still under the icing!

RE: Whats your stand on Elephant,Rino, Zebra, etc etchunts

I think what zrex is trying to say is that "sport hunting" is hunting with the sole purpose of enjoyment with no intentions of keeping or wanting the meat. With this I would have to concur. Any individual who sets out with the sole purpose of harvesting an animal but with no intent of keeping the meat of said animal is doing so soley for enjoyment. That is not to say that this type of hunting is by any means wrong but rather simply hunting with a different motive. On this point I have to agree with zrex. I personally would not partake in such a hunt as I just don't feel right taking an animal which I don't intend to eat. This is how I was brought up and this is where "I" stand. It is my opinion and in no way forced or held against anyone else. As for anyone else who wishes to undertake an endevour such as elephant hunting then more power to them. I see nothing wrong with any type of hunting and wish those who do invest their time and money in such a trip the best of luck.

Akbound I also have to agree with you. Hunting is not simply devided into "sport hunting" and "non-sport hunting". We all enter the field with our main motive being the enjoyment of the day to come. This would make our trip a "sport hunting" trip. On the other hand we are also there to fill our freezers. Just because there is no need for us to fill our freezers to support our family doesn't mean that we don't have the same purpose in mind for the animal we kill. This would then make our hunting trip a "non-sport hunt". This is a gray line that can be painted in either direction based soley on peoples perceptions. Perceptions are something that are impossible to argue based on the fact that they are being dictated to you by the one person you are arguing against. You can tell me how you "feel" and I can tell you how I "feel". This doesn't mean that I have to care about or like the way you "percieve" a specific situation, but I WILL respect it.

That is the main problem with half of the threads on this board. People will state their perceptions and opinions to start a thread off. Then someone else will tell the thread starter how wrong they are and that it should be "THIS" way which is ALWAYS their way. Before you know it there is a full blown argument based soley on opinions with neither party stating any facts. You just have to remember, there is no right or wrong or white or black answer to questions such as this. It is simply how I feel and how you feel and that's the bottom line.

I appologize for going off on this tangent but I have seen too many threads get out of hand based soley on this reason.

Now to get back to the original topic I don't think that hunting elephants is wrong at all. I just think it is wrong for ME. Now if the first statement in this thread would have started like this there would be no arguments. Because you can't argue it, it's how I FEEL end of story.

Now lets get the hell outta work and have a freakin' BEER!!!!!;)
