my grandfather loves it...... i can never bring myself to try it though. just looks like a little section of the gut pile setting in the pot.

Split it in half, like an apple, then slice it in to thin strips, roll it in flour & a little seasoning, fry it over a low heat, & it's almost as good as backstraps.;)

each time i shoot a deer the frist thing i pull out is the heart and have a bite out of it

It isn't considered meat persay but edible for sure. I know many who love the heart and liver, personally I don't like either. I have tried them on several occasions but they just don't do it for me.

The heart is a muscle, just like the rest of the muscles (flesh) that you consume of the deer. What's the hang up? Once the heart is sliced up, it's really no different.
