I harvested this buck in very thick pine cutover, but I don't see that it matters what size their antlers are. Their home is anywhere they want it to be.

nice buck hobo. it is definitely genetics. but if a wide racked deer isnt suited for a thick environment, then he will either move on or die. its called natural selection. so around you, the wider racked bucks may have moved out into naturally open areas.
